Our Mission

The Brotherton Foundation exists to advance education both in and out of school for K-12 youth, as well as support faith-based organizations in the United States.

While there are exceptions, the foundation's primary geographic areas of interest are Florida, New Jersey and Missouri.

Our History

Fred J. Brotherton

The Brotherton family first set out on the mission to support charitable causes in a few focus areas with a large donation from Emily's great uncle, Fred J. Brotherton. He was a successful businessman in New Jersey, and appointed Emily's father, Wayne Brotherton, as one of the original successor co-trustees of his charitable giving efforts. Wayne served as successor co-trustee of the Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation for over 20 years after his uncle's passing in 2002.

In 2023, Wayne handed the reins over to his daughter Emily Brotherton (married name Milazzo). Emily has a business degree in nonprofit management from Ramapo College in NJ, and 15 years of experience in an advisory board capacity of the Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation.

In 2024, the original foundation was dissolved and amicably split into two separate organizations. Emily has overseen the reorganization and current direction of the newly formed Brotherton Foundation and serves as its sole Trustee.
